Social distancing has canceled many activities, including travel. And, of course, everything has become a routine and here we can add watching TV, reading a book, cooking or navigating on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. But you can break this monotony by streaming the Northern Lights from you own house.
The Mother Nature is stunning and surprising. There is no need to argue about this. But Aurora Borealis is something beyond this world and, of course, a must-see without any doubts. And, since you cannot see them above you, maybe watching the Northern Lights from your living room can actually convince you to go there one day. So, thanks to Explore.org and Polar Bears International, you can now live-stream them and make your own house look like a dream.
The two sites use footage from a camera, which is located in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, underneath the aurora oval. Yet, you should keep in mind that the chances to actually catch the Northern Lights are minimal. But don’t lose your hope, because as soon as you see these apparently never-ending lights, you’ll forget about all this waiting.
But what are the Northern Lights?
The Northern Lights are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. These dancing lights come in many colors, including the most common green and pink, but also red, shades of blue, yellow and purple. It is an enormous event, a majestic one. For me, it can be described just in scientific terms, otherwise, words are useless. Furthermore, this phenomenon can be seen in countries from Alaska, Northern Canada, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Russia, Sweden and Greenland.
Moreover, the Northern Lights can be stream 24 hours a day. So, don’t worry, you won’t miss anything. And actually, the stream has been operating for eight years, but since this pandemic context, people from all over the world started to watch these marvellous lights.
Enjoy!
If I convinced you to take a look at the Northern Lights, you can access the website from here. We’re in quarantine and after all this story, we will return to our chaotic lives. So, take advantage of these moments and do something different!
